About Institute



Surat Raktadan Kendra & Research Centre (SRK&RC) is a charitable trust established on 1st October 1976. SRKRC is known for its highest standard of quality and commitment. SRK&RC is known in the field of blood banking & Transfusion Medicine since last 40 years.

SRK&RC is a reputed NABH accredited Regional Blood Transfusion & Research Centre. It prides itself for its state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and research facilities. Our Blood Bank is approved by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology,as approved Research Institute and considered. It is known as place of excellence in the field of blood transfusion.

SRK&RC has received 'ISBTI BEST INSTITUTE IN INDIA' Award in December 2008, presented by the health minister of UP, Shri Lalji Verma, in ISBTI Annual Conference held in Lucknow.

SRKRC has received "Best Healthcare NGO of the Year" from Six Sigma Healthcare (The Oscar of Indian Healthcare).

About Research

For the past many years SRKRC has been actively undertaking research projects in the field of Transfusion Medicine, Hematology and Immuno-hematology, Beta thalassemia and Sickle cell anaemia in collaboration with in BRNS, ICMR, DBT and DSIR.M.Sc. and Ph.D. students are also involved in research work as they are provided facilities and guidance by our senior faculty members .

SRK&RC has published several research articles in leading national and international journals and also a book on "Recent Trends in Trafusion Medicine" in year 2002. SRK&RC faculty/students/technicians have presented research work in various National and International conferences, which were appreciated and have won many awards.

In addition to all this SRK&RC has a plan to develop a molecular medicine center, stem cell biology & regenerative medicine with state of the art centre for study of blood coagulation.

Educational Activities

SRKRC conducts workshops, seminars and training programmes on various aspects of "Transfusion medicine" for the staff, technical personnel attached to other blood banks in South Gujarat, general practitioners and medical consultants. Programmes are also conducted for masses, particularly school children to create awareness regarding voluntary blood donation.

We publish a quarterly Magazine "Raktadan" and Annual Report in English and Gujarati languages, regularly

Why DMLT at SRKRC ?

Diploma course in Medical Laboratory Technology is offered by Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat.

SRKRC has modern facilities available for DMLT course. Students can have hands on training for many practicals which are only for demonstration at other institutes. Students will be comfortable in Air-conditioned class rooms, library etc. Moreover there are employment opportunities for students to join SRKRC after completion of DMLT course.
