About Organization

Surat Raktadan Kendra & Research Centre (SRKRC) is a blood centre with a 100 % voluntary blood donation committed to advanced transfusion medicine and skilled manpower in the field. Established in 1976, SRKRC has grown consistently over the decades, strengthening its infrastructure and expanding its services to meet the rising healthcare needs of Surat and surrounding regions. Annually provides over 10,000 units of blood FREE of cost to the patients with Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Anaemia, and Haemophilia patients.

Guided by visionary leadership and a dedicated Board of Trustees, the organization has achieved remarkable milestones. As a NABH-accredited Regional blood Transfusion Centre, it has multiple blood storage centres providing safe and high-quality blood and blood components to the citizens of South Gujarat. It features advanced Nucleic acid test (NAT test) and γ-rays Irradiation Machine to ensure the safety of blood components.

SRKRC’s dedication to research and scientific excellence has been recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, which has granted the centre SIRO (Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) status. This recognition underscores the organization’s role in advanced medical research in India. Additionally, donations made to the organization are eligible for income tax exemption under Section 35(1)(ii), allowing donors to claim a 100% tax deduction. This provision encourages greater support for its research initiatives.

In recent years, SRKRC has expanded into advanced medical and stem cell research, reinforcing its commitment to innovation in healthcare. The centre focuses on the application of mesenchymal stem cells and their differentiation into liver cells, contributing to advancements in regenerative medicine and liver disease treatment. SRKRC has published numerous papers in reputed national and international journals, reflecting its strong academic commitment and dedication to innovation.

SRKRC has been honoured in appreciation to its invaluable services and contribution towards the blood transfusion services by NBTC in 2025.
